Old Dutch Church
Congregation formed in 1959. First church a modest wooden structure,
replaced by larger stone building in 1661 - burned by British in
1777.
Ulster County Courthouse
(c.1818) Present building stands on the same site as the original
courthouse that was burned by the British in October of 1777, shortly
after adoption of the state's first constitution there in September
of that year.
"Pike Plan"
(c.1976) From a design by the late Woodstock artist, John Pike,
the turn-of-the-century style canopied sidewalks and plantings add
charm and comfort to this unique shopping & business district.
Senate House
(c.1676) New York's first senate held here in the year of the adoption
of the state's constitution, 1777, until the burning of Kingston
by British troops on October 16 of that same year.
Senate House Museum
The museum houses artifacts and memorabilia dating from colonial
times to present, most notable being the extensive collection of
a great colonial American painter, John Vanderlyn.
Fireman's Hall & Museum
(c.1857) Once active as the Wiltwyck Hose Co. #1, the Volunteer
Fireman's Hall & Museum displays a wonderful collection of historic,
antique & classic firefighting apparatus.
Academy Green
Great bronze statues of Peter Stuyvesant, George Clinton and Henry
Hudson watch over the land that was the site of Stuyvesant's meeting
& treaty with Indian chieftains of the Esopus tribes.
U.C.P.C. Visitor Center
One of New York's first "Urban Cultural Parks", the Stockage
Area of Kingston is an example of a thriving commercial and social
district in historic surroundings. The Visitor Center acts as a
focal point, interpreting Kingston's long and colorful history as
keystone of transportation & commerce in the early growth of
our nation.
